Obama

I will more than likely get some flack for this post, but when has that ever stopped me? This is my blog and therefore my place to speak my innermost thoughts and feelings.

I came home from my HOA meeting tonight to find Ben watching the All Star game and guess who was in the booth with the announcers?

President Obama.

My initial reaction to this was pretty much the same as it was when I saw him filling out his basketball brackets on ESPN. But then I stopped and watched him for a bit. He was wearing his White Sox jacket, and just having a normal baseball conversation with the two announcers. He was being an all-American guy. But, I actually appreciated it this time. And it got me thinkng, that I kinda want to like the man. 'One of the things that I always liked about about President Bush (43), and of course he caught hell for this, was that he was a down-to-earth person. He could throw out a pitch at a baseball game, relax on his ranch, or mis-pronounce the word nuclear (nuk-u-lar) and it just proved that he was a normal person even though he was the most powerful man in the world.

So, I've changed my stance on Obama - I think he's a cool guy. He is personable and hip and I really do like that about him. That isn't to say that I agree with his policy, but I can see the appeal to him as a person.

That's all I've got for you tonight. I need to recap Ben's golf tourney from the weekend. I don't want to give any details away until I can fully flesh out my thoughts, but I will say that it was a good day!

If only all the people who hold super stressful jobs would take a few minutes to relax and have fun and be themselves ... maybe the rate of heart attacks in our nation would plummet? I like that Obama is willing to share what makes him a person ... he is, after all, human.

Human?

I'm pretty sure he won the election because enough people thought he was a God.

Obama's healthcare plan is going to force many people to pay for insurance who simply don't want to (1/3 of uninsured are 18-22yrs.old making 50K/yr and elect not to pay). He promotes generic drugs, which means insurance companies are dictating what physicians can Rx and they will be putting the drug companies our of business - well, who do you think funds the R&D to develop the medications you are taking??? It's going to be a mess and we're going to lack new drug therapies.... what about cancer research or vaccines - or finding an appropriate treatment for depression/hypertension/dislipidemia??? He is so far off on this plan - and to have it finalized by late August.... right! But, besides that I think Obama is really uniting the nation. I like him. I don't think the healthcare industry is going to vastly change. There will be a compromise, which is what we need for the hard working uninsured.

My opinion remains unchanged. If you want someone who is popular or says what people in our country want to hear, he's perfect. If you want someone to make the best decisions for a capitalist country, he's awful. He's a socialiist, promotes terrible plans, and isn't correcting any of the causes of the problems, just the effects. I do like that he had the stones to wear a White Sox jacket in St. Louis. At least he didn't sell out.

I've always liked Obama as a person. But more and more I am beginning to disagree with the way he is handling certain situations (most notably the economy). Either way I hope his presidency (and every president after) goes better than anyone expected, because America needs it.
