Negative Nelly: She's She's Still Here

I know there are a few Obamanites who read my blog. Let me go ahead and apologize to you. Maybe just don't read this post at all. (But come back later in the week and I'll do my best to be non-offensive!)

I was waiting for Ben to get home this afternoon so I had the TV on ESPN. I also happen to have entered into the dead pool and was hoping the commentators could drop some knowledge on me as to what I can expect from all the teams. I was half listening, half reading blogs when I saw something out of place. Obama. On ESPN. Really? Of course I watched. He was going through his picks for the NCAA Tourney. I know he's a basketball fan and I can of course appreciate that he probably needs a break from the stress of his job from time to time. So sure, why not watch some basketball? No problem.

BUT how on earth does the man have time to do an interview with ESPN? And this is on the heels of him being interviewed on Jay Leno. (Or maybe right before ... I don't know the exact timeline). Hey Mr. President --- how about getting back to presidenting* our nation in crisis and spending a little less time being a celebrity. Thanks.

* I realize that isn't a real word. Sometimes I make things up.

P.S. Apparently Neal Boortz shares my sentiment on this.

Agreed. I didn't even have time to fill out my brackets. I am concerned about his priorities.

Let me preface my comments by saying how greatly improved your blog is from the first time I read it. Now, you know I am no Osama supporter, but I do disagree on this one. Presidents need to be just like everyone else. The thing that connected Americans to Clinton was that he smoked weed, played the saxaphone, and had sex with as many women as would agree, regardless of how they looked.

With Bush, you had a guy who didn't take shit from anyone, supposedly appreciated the occasional line of blow back in college, and really loved baseball.

Now, we got a guy who smokes cigarettes when everyone under the sun knows it kills you, loves sports, especially basketball, and loves being popular and will do anything to make sure that stays the case, including robbing from the rich to give to the poor.

The US loses an insane amount of productivity during March Madness. Is one man's bracket really going to make that big of a difference? Besides, he probably had an aide do it anyway...maybe Reggie "Teabag" Love. If you don't understand the reference, look it up, it ties together politics and college basketball and is the truth.

I agree with Wes and thought this yesterday. I did my bracket in less than 5 minutes and he was probably only in front of the camera for that long.

The only thing that bothers me is he had Clemson winning in the second round and scratched them out.

I completely agree with Coach K...Seriously, We all know that your in over your head...but, BO - at least pretend that you know what your doing.

I could go on...but I'll stop now...

Why is he wasting time with his brackets when there is still so much brush in Texas that needs to be cleared?

So, when I was marathon training with a group years and years ago, one of my coaches said his BEST times where the marathons where he'd walk for one minute every mile. It allows the body to rejuvenate in mini-spurts. Maybe Leno and ESPN were Obama's walking breaks for the guy who's in it for the long haul!

Erin - me too

Wes - I do agree that this was just a way for him to relate to the American people.

Josh - probably a wise decision considering Clemson got slaughtered last night!

Lesley - and let's not even start with the Special Olympics comment from last night's interview on Leno

RTR - leave the brush in TX alone.

Nilsa - Valid point. There is no doubt he is under tremendous stress and will be until the day he leaves office. I'm sure he needs to take breaks from time to time.

ALL -- thanks so much for your feedback! I really do see that there are 2 sides to this.

Me and the BFF were just discussing the overkill...and we both voted for him.
