A Little Help From my Friends (Please)

I’ve spent the past week indulging in all of my favorite foods. Over-indulging, really. I usually consider the weekends to be a wash, because I never intend to eat healthily on the weekends. However, this weekend was especially bad. You see, we had a wedding to go to. Weddings mean wedding cake. Lots of it. I also had three more cupcakes from Sweet Pockets over the weekend. But that is neither here nor there. The problem is that it really didn’t stop after Sunday despite my best intentions to eat healthy and workout all week. Neither have happened. I literally think I could feel my a$$ growing larger the other day. That is seriously not cool.

So, I need your help here. There really isn’t much I can do to avoid eating the things I love. That is simply out of the question. BUT, I do think that if I can put a bunch of upbeat workout songs on my iPod then I will be more likely to run each day. (In case you don’t know – in the Katie Dictionary run actually means walk) This is where you come in, my loyal readers.

What are some of your favorite workout songs?

If you are serious about jump starting your "walk" there is only ONE song for you...the theme song from the original movie "ROCKY." Even now you hear the song in your head. Try it.

Baby Panther

The song is called Gonna Fly Now and it will definitely make you run like the wind.

I lean slightly to Training Montage from the Rocky 4 soundtrack with Gonna Fly Now coming in a close 2nd. I could flip flop these daily probably. As much as I love seeing Rocky go up those steps in philly, it's hard to beat him screaming "Drago" from a mountain top in russia.

1. Training Montage
1a. Gonna Fly Now

Katie, since I typically put a lot of thought into this very topic, I hope I can help you out! A few favorites from my current running playlist:

Bryan Adams - Summer of 69
Def Leppard - Pour Some Sugar On Me
Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out
GnR - Welcome to the Jungle
Lost Trailers - Holler Back
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Aeroplane
Shakira - Hips Don't Lie
Third Eye Blind - Semi-charmed Life
Tiffany - I Think We're Alone Now (perfect running beat and it even says "we're running just as fast as we can")
Toby Keith - Hottie
WSP - Rebirtha

And I shouldn't admit this on any public forum, but I also run to a bunch of cheese, including Britney, some Cher, and several Roxette songs. :)

Talk radio is great. So, it isn't upbeat at all, but it gets your mind off of what you are doing and keeps you interested.

I suggest the all these albums:

1. Madona: Confessions on a dance floor.
2. 30 Seconds to Mars: A Beautiful Lie.
3. Girl Talk: Night Ripper

Hope that helps a bit! Also just wanted to let you know that I enjoy reading your blog and Kimmie's too!

I don't work out. Other than panther music, here are a few of my favorites. These are oldies (or at least oldies where I come from).
Bananarama - Cruel Summer
Timex Social Club - Rumors

- The Panther
