When we left to go up to Grandma's on Christmas morning it was snowing in Smyrna. I got soooo excited thinking we'd have a nice, pretty drive in the snow but it quickly turned to rain. A bit of a letdown, I suppose but by the time we left the farm on Saturday night it was snowing again and the snow seemed to be sticking to the ground!
We woke up Sunday morning at the lake to lots and lots of snow covering the ground!! Yay!! Wyatt's first snow!!
We all got bundled up and headed outside for some pictures! (Like I said, Wyatt doesn't lack for pictures AT ALL!! We photo-document everything). Wyatt HATED being all bundled up but he was overall a good sport about it. Like his snowman shoes? They didn't really match his outfit and I probably would have been better off putting him in his boots, but I just thought these were so appropriate for snow. And it isn't like he can walk so it really just didn't matter much!
Me and Wyatt with Ellie and Kimmie. Ellie absolutely loved the snow -- hopefully when Wyatt is her age he will like it a little better as well. And he'll maybe even tolerate getting bundled up.
Family picture! I know I'm mis-matched but I half-assed it when I was packing because I just wasn't convinced that it was really going to snow!
Meme and Papa with W and E! My dad looks soooo cold!!
Meme and Papa bought Ellie and Wyatt a kid-Gator several weeks ago. We all love riding the Kubota so they figured that they would like this kid-version. We have a super long driveway that is perfect for riding so I imagine these two will be playing with this often this summer! As Dad said to me "we've got Wyatt a new Gator, and a driver" That might be the case for a little while but before long Wyatt will figure out how to drive that thing!
Ben worked hard to build Wyatt his first snowman. Here he is in action while Wyatt and I just stood there "supervising"
Wyatt was soooo fussy by the time the snowman was finished, so we let him nap and came back out later to pose for a picture with it. The snow was starting to melt and Wyatt still wasn't thrilled about being layered up and out in the cold so we just did the best we could with the picture.

Christmas Day 2010
One thing Wyatt does not lack for are pictures! Oh and toys apparently ... now that we've gone through his first Christmas! I told Ben the other night that I really thought we had done a great job up until this point at keeping our house looking relatively adult with a few splashes of baby here and there. Now, a toy bomb has apparently exploded in our home and there are toys EVERY.WHERE.
Its my own fault -- every time I was at Target or Babies R' Us I would find another toy that Wyatt just "had" to have. Oh well, you only have one first Christmas in your life, right? He deserved to get spoiled.
On Christmas Day, we all got up and went downstairs when Wyatt decided it was time. First thing we did was show Wyatt that Santa had come to visit! Funny, he didn't really seem to care one way or the other! We still set him up to pose with all his gifts.
By the way ... has anyone ever noticed that whoever makes children's toys puts little easter eggs within them? I swear they do. That little monkey toy you see there on the left side of this picture plays a song that we SWEAR sounds like "I'm a big, dumb, tall giraffe ..."
We enjoyed an awesome breakfast and then all scurried to get dressed to head up to my Grandparents house for the afternoon. We tried and tried and tried to get a family picture with everyone looking at the camera and smiling. Didn't happen, but I think this one is pretty good!
We got to Grand Meme and Grand Papa's after lunch and had plenty of time to sit around and visit. Of course, there were more presents waiting for the kids there ... doesn't Wyatt look cute in his new Frog hat? And he LOVES this book!
After Grand Meme and Grand Papa's, we went over to the farm house for dinner and one final round of gifts. Here are Ben and I helping Wyatt to open his present.
Wyatt enjoying his Grand Meme and Grand Papa. Check out the couch they are sitting on!! (I've mentioned the stone-age couch before)
We attempted to get all of the cousins together for a picture. I think this is about the best we could do. There are LOTS of cousins at the farm -- all second, third, and fourth cousins to Wyatt I believe.
Ummm... I think that wraps up Christmas 2010!
I'll do snow pictures in another (maybe shorter?) post!

Christmas Eve 2010
I must warn you (again) that I have approximately one brazillion pictures from Christmas to post here! And it is just so hard to choose between all of them and I just can't leave anything out. However, I do know that I typically read other blogs mostly to see pictures so I'll make the same assumption of anyone reading this!
On Christmas Eve, we enjoyed a somewhat relaxing day off. Actually the day wasn't all that relaxing since we had a jillion little things around the house to do to get ready for Christmas but that's okay! It was still nice to be at home with Wyatt and Ben even if we did have lots to accomplish.
Next up: Christmas Day
Then: Snow
This first picture actually wasn't taken on Christmas Eve. Kimmie and Ellie came down to have lunch with Dave, who works near my house, one afternoon last week. Mom happened to be keeping Wyatt at my house that day so they stopped by for a quick visit. That quick visit turned into a big ole family party and we got this cute picture of E and W!

That evening, we went to Meme and Papa's house for dinner and to celebrate with the whole family. Wyatt sitting proudly in his new chair! A gift from Meme and Papa.
We wanted a picture of both kids in their chairs. Ellie was NOT having it at all! I think she was upset that we made her quit playing with her baby dolls for this photo.
After dinner, we went into the den to open gifts. Notice Wyatt's little diva outfit change? That wasn't because he made a mess but more because I wanted him to wear all his Christmas clothes as much as possible!
After dinner, we loaded up the car with all our gifts and went home. Santa called and asked Ben if he could please help him out and put together Wyatt's toy box for him! Of course we obliged.
Looks like Santa came to spoil Wyatt! (And by the way: 1) my sister told me that our tree was "puny" I agree. we will see if we can improve upon that next year 2) do you see those cords? they are DRIVING ME CRAZY. this would be such a pretty picture if they weren't there. we'll remedy that next year as well)
Next up: Christmas Day

December - part deux
I gave a little warning on my last post that there were lots of pictures. I lied! But there really are a million this time. I'll try to keep this short and sweet though :)
This past weekend, we went to Murfreesboro to celebrate Christmas with Ben's family. We all had a great time and I know the highlight of the weekend for everyone was seeing Wyatt!

Opening presents. Not surprisingly, Wyatt was more interested in the wrapping paper than in the actual gifts!
We spent Friday evening celebrating with Ben's mom's sister and her husband. We had a wonderful meal and then a ton of gifts to unwrap! Here is Wyatt posing with his Aunt Weez and Uncle Bill.
We had a relaxing morning on Saturday and opened presents with Ben's mom, dad, and brother. Here is a very proud Lolly with Wyatt.
Pops is helping Wyatt open his gifts. (And supervising to make sure he doesn't eat too much tissue paper!)
Aunt Susan and Uncle Al came to Murfreesboro Saturday afternoon to celebrate and open (even more) gifts. In this picture, it was Susan's turn to make sure Wyatt didn't eat too much paper.
For some reason, Wyatt LOVED laying and sitting in this little changing pad thing and playing. Here he is hanging out with his new dog, Dudley.
Uncle Matt! Somehow, we failed to capture a picture of Wyatt and Matt on our camera. Sorry, Matt :( (and a hint to Lolly to please send us one from your camera!)
Family photo.
Why is it SO HARD to get a good picture of 7 people?
Why is it SO HARD to get a good picture of 7 people?
That's all I've got from this past weekend. We've got more celebrating this week -- we will celebrate with Mom and Dad and Kimmie, Dave, and Ellie on Christmas Eve. Santa will probably make a stop at our house shortly after that and then we're off to the Farm for the extended family Christmas on Saturday! So stay tuned for more pictures.
December - part 1
I guess my goal of blogging weekly isn't really working out for me, huh? Oh well. This is where we've been all month!
Warning: LOTS (and lots and lots and lots) of pictures!
Warning: LOTS (and lots and lots and lots) of pictures!
The first weekend in December, we went to a place called Catch Air to celebrate Ellie's 2nd birthday. All her friends and family came and she had the best time! I cannot believe she is such a big girl now!
Wyatt just doesn't seem to care one way or the other about the slide! Oh well, Ben and I both had fun.

November
I used to blog just for the pure entertainment of it. And also because I like to get on my soapbox. Now, I use this as a way to look back at each month and remember what was going on at any point in time. Mainly so I can keep up with Wyatt's milestones and pictures of our family. So, its now midway through December and I'm way behind. Oh well. All that is to say: prepare yourself because this will be a LONG post! With lots of pictures. But since I'm doing this to keep record of what we've been doing I'm not going to cut it short!!
In true Longmire fashion, we were busy all month! We started it out with celebrating at a wedding shower for one of my best friends, Carrie, and her fiance, Burke. Unfortch, I didn't take many pictures but I did get one of Ben and I! I think there are more pics from that night, but those are on other cameras (hint hint, please load them somewhere so I can have them!)
The following Tuesday, we had an appointment to visit Santa at Phipps Plaza. It felt sorta strange to do this even before Thanksgiving but when I scheduled it in OCTOBER, it seemed like November 16 was close enough to Christmas! What made it even more strange is that it was about 70 degrees out and Wyatt was dressed out in his Christmas clothes!
I didn't really get a good picture of Wyatt with Santa, except for the ones the photographer took. He did really well though! Santa had to protect his beard, as that was the first thing Wyatt grabbed for when he sat down on his lap! We did get a few pictures before seeing ole Santa!

Next up, I think we had a few events. A football game for sure. Who knows what else. But the next "documented" event was Papa's birthday. We usually try to go out to a restaurant to celebrate but with 2 kiddos that isn't always so easy so we ended up celebrating in Lilburn. The boys grilled some steaks so Papa didn't have to do too much work (he doesn't love grilling). I think he enjoyed his little home celebration! Lots of pictures of his b-day!!Dad (Papa) with Wyatt and Ellie
Ben, Me, Wyatt at dinner. Wyatt LOVED this plastic placemat! He ripped it off the table the minute he saw it and played with it all throughout dinner. We're singing Happy Birthday to Dad right now. In true Ellie fashion, she has to be right in the middle of the action!

"Mom, there are more important things to look at than your camera" (b-tee-dubs ... excuse the dot on his forehead. it wasn't there in celebration of Diwali. i got a call from school one day saying that he'd scratched his head with his nails. i don't think his fingernails did that much damage, but whatevs! he's a boy and they get injuries!!)
Wyatt and Mommy (His Daddy was a sad Panda that he had to miss Wyatt's first Santa visit, but he had a meeting that he could not skip)
After our visit with Santa, Mom had to run over to Lenox to grab something so we decided that we should take Wyatt to ride the Pink Pig while we were there. Its an Atlanta tradition, so I guess we will be doing this each year for a while!
About to ride the Pink Pig!!
The following day, we had our last home football game and celebrated my birthday again with some friends at a tailgate. (Thanks Dr. King and Mr & Mrs. King for organizing!!!) We took Wyatt to his final football game of the season (and probably his last one for quite a while). He's such a trooper .... he did so well at both the tailgate and game but we did end up leaving at halftime. I did manage to snag this cute picture of Buzz, Wyatt and Ben at the game right before we left! We took Wyatt out to my parent's house for the evening and Ben and I went to the Jason Aldean concert that night for one last birthday celebration! We had a great time.
We spent that Sunday doing his 6 month pictures. Can you believe that Wyatt has been with us for half a year? Neither can I!!! This time last year, he was just a Shim!!
We had Wyatt's 6 month doctor appointment on the 24th and then headed up to Knoxville to celebrate Thanksgiving with Ben's side of the family. I'm going to let the pictures do the talking here!
I think that pretty much sums up November! Whew! I'm exhausted. Pinky promise not to neglect my little blog for so long again!
Next up: my birthday. We braved the restaurant this time, I think mainly because we celebrated on my actual b-day and it was a Friday night. We had a wonderful dinner at J. Alexander's with the whole Burkett-Longmire-Heglin clan. I snagged this picture from my sister's blog. I don't think we took too many photos that night. Certainly none of our little Longmire family. Notice my little "helper"! She LOVES opening presents.
