1 Month Old!

Happy 1 month birthday to Wyatt! I can't believe how much time flies. Wyatt is growing like a weed, and learning new things every day. I am still feeding him every 3 hours during the day but at night he will usually go at least 4.5 - 5 hours between meals. This means I'm only having to get up once during the middle of the night, which makes me a very happy mommy! (Although, I hope this doesn't change ... last night was the first time he woke me up more than once but I'm hoping that was just a one-off) He usually takes several catnaps during the day between feedings and at least one long, good nap. Most days I end up having to wake him to eat for at least one or two of his meals. He really is a good baby and I hope this pattern continues.
Just in the last week we have started doing tummy time, which he hates, and he is using his little activity mat more and more. He has started paying attention to you when you talk to him and you can occasionally even get a little smile out of him if you're lucky! He is starting to find his voice and will occasionally talk to us. And he is a GREAT listener! Its pretty awesome for me to have someone I can gossip to all day long and know he won't repeat a word I say :) (Ben should be so grateful for that so he doesn't get an earful from me when he gets home each night)
He is just a little sponge, and is taking everything in. I've read that babies are really good at picking up on people's feelings and I must say that I totally believe this. The first week home, he was great and hardly cried, sleeping and eating perfectly. This also happened to be the week Meme was staying with us and helping us out so both Ben and I were much more relaxed. The second week home was a little harder for the 3 of us, probably because Meme was gone and Ben and I weren't so relaxed any more. Since then, we have learned to accommodate his needs a little better and can usually figure out the reason for his cries pretty quickly.

At 1 month, here are his likes and dislikes:

Likes
- eating
- sleeping
- his lovie
- his paci

Dislikes
- getting dressed
- getting his diaper changed
- bathtime (although he is tolerating it better now)

We spent time out at Meme and Papa's house on Tuesday and Wednesday, and the photos in this post are a few of my favorites from his one month photo shoot.

Father's Day/Lake Weekend!

We took Wyatt on his first trip to the lake this past weekend! Little does he know, this is only the first of many lake weekends to come -- it is one of my and Ben's favorite summer activities so hopefully Wyatt will learn to enjoy it as much as we do!

Wyatt and I left the house early Friday morning and headed to Meme's (my mom) then from there went and picked up Kimmie and Ellie so that the 5 of us could get settled at the house before Papa (my dad), Dave, and Ben joined us later in the evening.

We all got there at different times and were exhausted from the day so we just had dinner, gave the kids baths, and got in bed early. Ben got up bright and early on Saturday morning and headed out fishing around our cove for a few hours while the rest of us relaxed and slowly started our day.

Wyatt had his very first Kubota ride down to the dock. It was hot so he didn't get to stay down there very long, but we did have to let him have a quick ride and get his picture on the Kubota! (He was so impressed by it that he slept right through his ride!)

Dad has been wanting to get a kayack for a few years now, and he finally went out and bought one on Saturday morning. Wyatt is a little too young to enjoy this just yet, and I'm still healing from my surgery so I didn't get to use it this time but Ben had a GREAT time fishing out of it! Mom snapped this picture of him standing up paddling like an Indian!

Ellie continues to be a great older cousin to Wyatt. She is so sweet with him and loves talking about Wy-we (this is how she says Wyatt), holding and loving on him. She also sometimes likes to pretend she is a baby and tries to steal his paci and use his little swing! So cute. And as you can see, Wy-we could really care less. This child loves his sleep!
On Sunday, we celebrated father's day with more fishing, relaxing on the dock, and grilling steaks for lunch! (This picture was actually taken on Saturday, but we just couldn't get it together to get an official Father's Day family photo on Sunday)

As always, the weekend ended too soon and we are now back at home but we have a busy week planned at home!

Hey Wyatt .... I don't think you're going to get much milk from there!

I swear we feed this child enough, but I guess he's just like his momma and always thinks about food.

Our First Two Weeks at Home

Well we have successfully made it through our first couple weeks at home with Wyatt. Thank God for my mother who was here all the first week helping us out. It is crazy to imagine that a teeny, tiny human being needs so many hands! Last week, Mom was gone so Wyatt and I flew solo - suddenly I didn't have quite as much time to do things like shower, blog, and write thank you notes, and even simple things like make my breakfast and lunch! However, each day gets a little easier as I learn how to manage myself and a newborn.

We are blessed with a pretty good sleeper, so that has done wonders for our sanity! During the day, we stick pretty close to the every 3 hour rule but at night I will typically feed him sometime between 10 and 11 and let him sleep until he wakes us when he is hungry. He usually makes it until about 3 or 4 and then again until about 7 or 8 0 so we're pretty lucky. I just hope that continues. Only one nighttime feeding really does a lot to keep mommy and daddy well rested!

He is also a great eater - the boy always acts content after he finishes eating, but I'm convinced that he would keep eating if we let him! I must say that he gets that trait honest from his momma though!

Anyway. Enough of the boring details that yall probably don't care too terribly much about! Here are a few pictures to show you what we've been up to since we came home.
We spent lots of time in our bouncer seat! This gives mommy a break so she can eat her meals and do things around the house for a few minutes.

We posed for lots of pictures!

We went on our first outing to Babies R' Us. (We quickly realized we needed more pee pads because this boy sure does go through them!)

We pitched a few fits (but always for a very good reason - tired, hungry, wet, dirty, or just to let us know he wants some attention)!

We had lots of visitors -- sorry I'm not posting visitor pictures because I don't want to play favorites!

We took naps on mommy's and daddy's shoulders.

Wyatt and I also took a couple of solo outings - one to CVS, and one to Costco and we'll have to think of somewhere fun to go this afternoon for a bit! (I can't sit in this house all day -- I get pretty bored)
