Heeeed

This past weekend, I took one final little getaway to visit a friend in DC. It was a little girls' weekend that we had planned a month or so ago and I figured this would be my last opportunity for a while. Despite my sister's concern about me flying at 28 weeks prego, I went anyway and Shim and I were both just fine!

Erin and I flew up to DC on Friday afternoon and Tracey picked us up from the airport. We changed clothes and went to dinner at a cute little bar/pub type place in Georgetown. The snow was still EVERYWHERE but fortunately it was all piled away so that you could still walk on the sidewalks and streets. Anyway, we had dinner and then just went home to watch some Olympics and relax a bit. We were lazy and slept in on Saturday and spent the afternoon shopping, and went to see The Blind Side (so, so good). That night we enjoyed a nice seafood dinner - best crab cakes I've had in quite a while! We also took the one and only picture from the whole weekend that night.
Notice Erin & Tracey enjoying their wine, while I jealously drank an Izze!

We had a little time on Sunday to relax and since it was such a pretty day we were able to walk to a little restaurant to have brunch before having to go to the airport. It was a fabulous weekend but of course it just went by way too quickly!

Monday morning was back to reality for me. I had another doctor's appointment and was pleased to learn that I had only gained 3 pounds since my last visit!! This was good news considering I got a little talkin' to about my weight gain on the previous visit. Anyway, I had to take a glucose screening test and BARELY passed that. But passing is passing, right?

I saw the Midwife this time, who I actually liked a lot despite my pre-conceived opinions before meeting with her. She spent a lot of time with me to make sure I didn't have any questions and thoroughly reviewed my file to discuss a couple of issues (nothing major - just things specific to my pregnancy) that she noticed. One of those non-serious 'issues' was the fact that she noticed from my last ultra sound report that Shim's head was a little on the large side. This isn't a big deal - it just means that the baby's head could be larger than average. This made me laugh mainly because last time Ellie was at her doctor her head circumference was larger than the average as well. I guess it runs in the family?

So, with that, Shim has now acquired a new nickname. HEEEED.

I never post you tube videos on my blog because I don't ever watch them on other people's blogs but I can't resist posting this scene from So I Married an Axe Murderer! (Thanks to Ben for helping me to post this video!)

I wish ....

Both the skinniness and the tan.

I sent this picture to Ben earlier today and said the same to him. His response? "Yeah, I wish I still had that visor and those glasses"

He blames me for losing them both. I'm pretty sure the visor fell out of my bag after we arrived in Maui and the glasses fell out of my purse at church a few months ago. I think he also lost an iPod once because it fell out of my beach bag. I was blamed for that until he got a new one. I think the real take-away here is that I simply cannot be trusted with such prized possessions!

Anyway, back to the point of my post. I guess I'm just complaining but I would very likely give my left arm right now to be tan and skinny again instead of pale and carrying a basketball in my belly!

I'm so fat that even my clothes are too heavy

I am a terrible blogger. And I foresee myself only getting worse when Shim arrives in a few months!

Ben and I were slowly but surely making progress in getting things ready for our move in April. Early last week I actually thought I was ahead of the game - Shim's furniture was on order, I ordered new bedroom furniture for Ben and I, ordered our kitchen table, was having some coffee and end tables re-finished, and just had a few other odds and ends to get together before we moved. I thought I had about 2 more months to do it so I wasn't worried at all. THEN, Ben called me on Friday to say that the builder called him and wanted to move up our closing date to March 12!!! Eeek.

Of course this is good news, but now I suddenly don't feel so organized and on top of things! I'm not the type to move in and not have my house presentable - especially with a baby coming - so I now am feeling a little rushed to get a couple more things done before closing day. However, we will now close two months before my due date and we were looking at one month prior so from that standpoint I'll have a lot more time to get things unpacked and situated. (And that means a lot of heavy lifting and work for Ben since I am really going to have to be cautious)

When Ben got home from work on Friday, we already had a couple inches of snow on the ground and it was so pretty that I insisted we go outside and take snow pictures! Cheesy, probably but oh well! We haven't taken a picture together in forever so I felt like we needed some and the snow was a good excuse.

Now that I have digested the fact that we're moving in less than 30 days, I am excited about it. Still worried that I won't have everything done in time, but excited nonetheless. I think what finally set me over the edge and made me realize that it was time to get out of my parent's house was what happened to me last night ....

I was trying to get organized for the week - picking up our room, hanging up clothes, organizing our closet, etc. Anyway, I was getting my clothes out for work on Monday when I decided that I needed to find a specific scarf out of the basket I had sitting on the shelf where all my clothes were hanging. I was up on my tiptoes and put just a liiiitttttle pressure on the shelf to pull the basket down and CRASH! The whole rack of clothes came tumbling down! The shelf literally was ripped from the wall. Awesome. So on that note .... it's high time for a move!
