Shoe Fever!

I'm desperate to go fall shoe shopping. I keep getting emails from DSW and they are just luring me in. Ben and I are supposed to go to the lake this weekend (gotta get one last tan before the weather turns) but if not I'm hitting up the DSW. These are some of my favorites I found online.

I love heels. I know they damage my feet, and I'll regret wearing them so much once I'm older but I just can't give them up quite yet. I've cut back and wear flats from time to time, but really heels just look so much better. And I think they make your pants appear to fit better as well. So, with that said, these are a few of my favorites that I found at DSW's website.

I really do like these, and while they would be ideal for fall I really need to find something that can take me into winter as well. I'm not so sure a peep-toe bootie fits the billThese guys? They are awesome. The ruffles are cute and would add some visual interest to an everyday plain-jane outfit. Not in purple though, I would go for black or brown.

These are great, but that heel might be a little bit too high. Would I look too streetwalker in a 5" heel? Probably so. But the flower and peep-toe are adorable.

Like I said earlier, I'm trying to wear flats more often but its just tough. I'm short so the height boost is necessary and I have such high arches that some of my heels are just as comfortable as my flats. Anyway. I am on the lookout for one or two pairs of smart shoes and I think these just might be winners.

I think the little flower is what drew me to these in the first place, although I really like the color as well. These don't look like the comfortable type of flats though.

(not sure how to take that 'featured in commercial' part off) The good thing about these is that they are stretchy in the back, that is key to a comfortable flat. I also like the ruffles on the front -- just a little visual interest but not too over the top. I think I'm going to definitely buy these bad boys. I just need to decide what color I want.

Out or In?

So, at this point in my life I'm pushing 30. And part of getting older means you slowly become less and less fashionable. I'm not really quite sure why this happens. I guess its partially the fact that we're now too busy (reading blogs, in my case) to read all the fashion magazines that we did in college. And instead of watching fun shows on TV that portray the latest fashions, we watch the news and Stuff That Matters. And also probably because instead of going out to Express (yes, I shopped there in college) and blowing all of my money, I tend to be more "responsible" about money these days!

Anyway, the point is that we have a new segment here at Longmired in Life. I'm not really sure how frequent this will be, but I think this is a fun thing to do once in a while. (In other programming news, I have a stack of clothes to take to Goodwill so that means another What Not To Wear post will be coming soon) I have to thank Becky for this idea, as these are all pictures she submitted to me.

So here is the deal. I will post pictures of items found in my closet (or in this case, in Becky's closet since she submitted the pictures) and you need to comment and tell me if the items are in or out. Easy enough, right? Well, we have a few rules

1) don't be a lurker ... comment with your opinions!
2) be honest ... if I am not open to criticism on something, I wouldn't post it on my blog for the world to read
3) i can't really think of any more rules

Item 1 - The shrug. This is short sleeved and hits at the bottom of your rib cage. You could wear this over a tank or a dress.


Item 2 - The white Blazer. I know this one is satin, but really I'm asking about a white cotton blazer. I know Katy Perry is wearing it in this picture, but I don't think anyone should really take style tips from her. So... in or out?


Item 3 - The white prairie skirt. This is such an easy, comfortable go-to for summer. But is it still cool?


Item 4 - Stacked slip on sandals. maybe not quiiite this high, but you get the idea.

Sandals

I have been on the hunt for the perfect pair of flat black thong sandals for a few years now. I have this precise vision in my head of the ones that I want and of course I cannot find them anywhere. Since I'm getting old and must stop wearing heels every day of my existence, I am on a serious mission this spring!

I've found a few pairs on Zappos and DSW that I like. You tell me what you think

I like these, but what I have in mind is slightly more dressy. These may work but I'm not totally sold on them. I also wanted to avoid an ankle strap.

LOVE the simplicity of these puppies but of course I look at the price and they are $210. Yeah, probably not going to pay that for a sandal. Let's move along.

I like these too. Especially the chunky rocks (or whatever they are) in the middle. I think these could actually be perfect because they can be worn dressed up or worn with a walking short or capris. Of course these are also a little bit price prohibitave.

Don't mug on these, I know they're purple in this picture but I think they come in black. I'll admit that the flower on top isn't ideal but this is the style I'm looking for -- thong, not paper-thin sole, not sparkly, no ankle-strap, wide enough for my fat foot.

Those are basically my only options. Everything else is too gladiator-y (although I do love glads), too sparkly, too ugly, too flimsy, or too trashy. I just don't know what to do. After a 2 year search, it just doesn't seem like I'm going to ever find the perfect shoe.
